Dominique Leuthold

linguist and expert in multilingualism

I am a linguist and expert in multilingualism and live with my husband and my two children in Zurich-Albisrieden. I studied English language and literature, art history and journalism at the University of Zurich.

Language has always fascinated me, and the internationality that comes with it, even more. I myself grew up in Zurich as the daughter of Slovak parents. At first, the topic of multilingual education did not play such a big role for me. However, I was always happy to speak a language with my parents that not everyone understood. I later decided to study linguistics, because, that way, not only would I be able to live out my passion for language, but also to explore it scientifically. Ever since I then became a mum to my wonderful daughter, the topic of multilingual education was once again starkly present. It was clear to me that I wanted to communicate with my daughter in my native language. This decision has proved its worth to this day.

The multilingualism in our everyday lives is a great enrichment for all of us – and I also learn something new every day, which is why I like to share my insights with you.
